Solid Wood Antique Reproductions
Characteristics of Solid Pine Furniture: Knots are where limbs grow. During the natural drying (or seasoning) process it is common for cracks to occur around and in the knots. Knots are a much more dense fiber than the grain of the wood. The finish will not always be the same on a knot as the rest of the wood. Heartwood (pink in color)and sapwood (yellow in color) are natural characteristics of the trees growth. Ponderosa pine is an evergreen tree that grows all year long. The growth of the tree will be greater in the summer than in the winter. Growth is greatly influenced by the amount of rainfall during the year, and the trees will grow more slowly in times of drought. This growth can affet the grain pattern which determines dark and light patterns in the finishing process. Does "Solid Wood" have defects? "We Guarantee it."
